DIRT & WATER.. WHAT DO YOU GET? alot of MUD and a whole lot of FUN!
As part of our continuing effort to improve and extend participation across the country, some important changes have been made.
Muckers like you made this thing more of a FEST than a RUCKUS, so we changed the name to MuckFest(TM) MS. To celebrate the name change, we've given the website - now MuckFestMS.com - a dirty makeover, so check it out. We're also creating a post-race MuckFestival area worthy of your partying prowess.
Additionally, we have eliminated the fundraising minimum that was required for participation in the event. If you have already reached your minimum, thank you, and keep on going! If you haven't joined us yet, what are you waiting for?
This year's MuckFest MS promises to be mucktacular. The awesome obstacles from 2012 will be back on a wet and wild course optimized for slip-sliding hilarity. We are also amping up the post-race party. We cannot wait for you to experience the MuckFest MS course and the MuckFestival area. If there was a word for being both "epic" and "mucky," we would use it
here.
Be a part of AAW's 2nd annual Mud Run. We will have an incredible muck-tac-ular day sloshing, sliding and slipping your way through 5 miles of mucky madness on Saturday, June 8th in Newtown Square. But you can choose to walk, hop, skip, crawl, run or even jump but get be prepared to get on your belly too!
To register, go to the website below and click on "Join A Team". "AWESOME ADVENTURE MUDDERS"
Our NON-Competitive time slot is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am. But you must arrive at 8:30 for signing in, getting your bib #, shoe chip, etc.
It is NOT a race. You can go through the obstacles, over, under or just walk around them. There are plenty of people to help, times to rest, water stations and just a gigantic opportunity to have a whole lot of fun.
Check out previous pics and you tubes at the website below and AAW's own 2012 Facebook pics. You may not be able to resist. And I hope not.
Let's get a huge AAW TEAM together for a huge cause. Hey, and if we have 25 people, we even get our own tent. Men and women, we need YOU!!!
Food, beverage and even beer afterwards provided if you want! Music all day long. Bring the family for a day outing.

Early Summer Car Clue Rally with snacks
- Saturday, June 22nd, 2013
- Weis Market, 7801 Glenlivet Drive West, Folgelsville,PA
- 10:30 am - TBD
- $38 Members, $48 Non-Members
- Hey folks. It's yet another fantastic "CAR CLUE RALLY".
This time you will travel over 50 miles of bucolic Lehigh County planned for you. There are more majestic hills and valleys to whet your appetite then you would ever imagine. You will be taking in picturesque streams, ponds, farmland, and views of Blue Mountain, while crossing over all the covered bridges that are drivable in Lehigh County and so much more. Don’t be surprised when you come across your fellow rallyists going in the opposite direction or in the same direction, but in a different point of the rally. Sound confusing? Wait ‘til you do the rally.
This rally is a clue rally. Think of it as a scavenger hunt where you don’t have to get out of the car. And with your creativity, you will have the opportunity to gain bonus points! Got your curiosity? Then register now because spaces will fill up quickly.
Map reading is not involved at all. By following a set of instructions you’ll navigate the route and answer questions along the way. The rally should take approximately 2.5 hours to complete. It will start from the Weis Market just north of intersection of I-78 and PA 100.
Since we could have up to 25 cars on a rally, it could take as long as 50 minutes just to start all the cars. At the end of the rally we will all meet at a restaurant, where you can eat, drink (at own cost) and rehash your experiences with your teammate and other participants, so please allow yourself the necessary time for the whole experience. However, AAW WILL provide snacks for each car while you enjoy your adventure.
Each registered entry will consist of a driver and a navigator. Only one of you needs to register and pay the registration fee (2 for the price of one)! The driver’s responsibility is to drive the car safely and to look for the directional clues and answers to questions. The navigator’s responsibility will be to read the instructions aloud to the driver, to look for the directional clues and answers to questions, and to record the answers to the questions. Who drives and who navigates will be up to you.
If you would like to do the rally, but can’t find a friend to share the driving or navigating responsibilities you can indicate your desire to find a driver or navigator by me at michelle@aawonline.com Make sure you provide an e-mail address so that potential teammates can contact you. After you find a teammate don’t forget to register!
What you will need to bring on the day of the rally:
1. A sense of humor. You more than likely will make mistakes. Laugh at them. There once was a navigator that got so excited when she spotted the answer to a question that she literally threw the rally instructions out the window when she pointed to the answer.
2. A car, van, SUV or pickup (nothing bigger, please) with a functioning odometer that reads to the tenth of a mile. Without this, the rally cannot be scored accurately.
3. Both a driver and a navigator and no one else. A driver alone can’t do everything safely and 3 is a crowd. See below.
4. A clipboard or it’s equivalent to write on.
5. Pens and/or pencils.
6. Snacks and beverages (provided or own if preferred)
ONLY 2 PEOPLE TO A CAR. NO EXCEPTIONS. Little kids are a distraction and you’ll have enough going on that additional distractions could be a safety issue. Older kids or adults would be able to help during the rally and that wouldn’t be fair to others with only 2 in a car. SO… ONLY 2 PEOPLE TO A CAR. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you should show up with more than 2, you will not be given the rally instructions, you will not be permitted to participate, and you will not be given a refund. ONLY 2 PEOPLE TO A CAR. NO EXCEPTIONS.
NOTE: Upon registration, you will be provided with all the necessary information to participate in our “Early Summer Rally”
$38.00 per car for Full AAW Members, (that's only $19.00 per person with snacks included)
$48.00 per car Non-Members, (that's only $24.00 per person with snacks included)

Waterfall Hike for the Advanced Hiker
- Saturday, August 10th, 2013
- Delware Water Gap
- 9:45 am - TBD
- $16 Members, $20 Non-Members
NOTE: This hike has a couple of very steep climbs where you will be grabbing rocks, roots and trees to make it up the grade. So if you are afraid of heights or huff and puff after going up a flight of stairs, you may consider waiting for an easier hike.
Come join us for a hike in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area (DWGNRA). The hike will include 6 very scenic waterfalls/cascades, 5 of which are not accessible from any well known trails. We will do two separate hikes, with each hike including 3 falls and several smaller cascades.
The first hike is an out and back hike where we will start at the bottom and climb to the top. It will include a lunch stop at a refreshing pool below the 3rd falls on that hike. Wear your swimsuit and bring a towel to enjoy the pool and the natural shower at the base of the falls.
The second hike is also an out and back hike, but this one starts at the top and we'll then hike down to see the 3 falls/cascades and then return. The section of the stream between the 1st and the and 2nd falls includes a stream crossing (rock hopping) and a narrow gorge that reminds me of Watkins Glen. We will view this gorge from a few vantage points. The 2nd falls, from the top, reminds me of a multi-layered wedding cake when the water flow is high enough.
The third water fall (a true waterfall, not a cascade) is used by kayakers when the stream has enough flow. I will explain how the kayakers negotiate the falls when we get there. If we are real lucky, we'll get a heavy rain a day or two before our hike and get to watch them.
We will meet at the park and ride at the intersection of PA33 and William Penn Highway at 9:45. For those of you that would find the Bushkill Access (just off US209 on the right about 2.5 miles after you enter the DWGNRA) more convenient, you could meet those of us starting from the park and ride there at 11am. No matter which place you will meet the group, PLEASE BE ON TIME. It is never fair for the people that are on time to have to wait for those that are late.
We will be leaving from the park and ride at 10am and from the Bushkill Access at approximately 11:15. When you register, please let me know which location you will be meeting us.
Because there is very limited parking at the top of the 2nd hike, we will need to car pool from the Bushkill Access with as many people per vehicle as possible, which is why we are limiting this hike to 16 participants. We need to limit the number of vehicles leaving from the Bushkill Access to 4. 3 would be even better.
We will be stopping at Alaska Pete's Roadhouse Grill for food and refreshments afterwards.
